Lunar Eclipse Here is a link to the "spaceweather.com" eclipse photo gallery. Well worth the visit!

The following link is a great web site by one of Environment Canada's leading forecasters, Phil Chadwick. He has been portraying nature and weather on his site for some time and has completed over 600 works of art. The site is well worth seeing and if the opportunity arises, it would be worth seeing his work in person and picking up a piece or two.

The following link will take you to the front page of the JPL website which is covering the current space probe, Cassini, as it makes it's way around the planet Saturn. Many amazing photos have been returned to earth from Cassini including close-ups of Saturn's rings and moons. This link is well worth the visit.
Satellite Imagery
A good site with satellite imagery of most of North America is the OSEI website located at OSEI Current Events. This site covers all sorts of weather events including dust storms, tornadic storms, wild fires, volcanic eruptions and of course hurricanes. They even have an email notification list with the latest atmospheric events captured by satellite.
Check out the daily Earth Picture Of the Day. Each day a different photo is shown and many of them are quite spectacular. Included is a full description of the image and various links to more info are given. Well worth a look at each day. For today, March 8th, 2005, my sun dog image from the bottom of this page was displayed there and can still be seen at the EPOD'S previous days images page.
Here is a great, newly re-designed web site and search engine. Ontario Online is for web sites and services based here in Ontario. So, send them your link and get posted in this ever growing All-Ontario web service!

As of now the web site is functional once again and will receive regular updates however it my be a while before I get "everything" up to par. I have some new photos to share, a couple of weather stories and a lot of work ahead of me but I am looking forward to it, not to mention working on a whole new look for the site if I ever figure it all out. Also, my school visits are back on and I am welcoming schools from all over to take advantage of this. We have numerous talks, displays and resources available that can enhance your grade five class curriculum as well as other grades. Give us a shout, send us an email and I will be glad to discuss a school or group visit. I also come out to home schooling groups, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts meetings as well as any other organization who would like a weather presentation of any kind. If anyone has any information to share, comments on what we can do with the web site, changes to make or errors to correct, please send them to me so that I can work on them as soon as possible. One last note! The web cam is not working properly but I hope to have that sorted out in the next couple of days. So far I have it fixed temporarily but it may not continue to work right. Time will tell. I think it is the software or drivers as it does not compensate for the light outside very well. Any ideas from anyone on this would be welcome. Thanks again for your ongoing support and good wishes! Sincerely, Stephen Mayne
NOTE:
For additional information such as current conditions or the forecast for your region as well as when bad weather approaches, you can listen to the Environment Canada Weather Radio station for this region at 162.550Mhz or you can program the frequency into a scanner as well. Also, if you intend to hold a special event at your home, cottage or place of work in Lanark County or surrounding regions, send me an email and I will put together a forecast for you for your day or weekend. Please try to give me a few days notice so that I can prepare it. I will send an initial outlook but will supply you with a final forecast 24 - 48 hours before the event.
Please feel free to contact me with suggestions or ideas for this site as it is my intent to make it the best source for weather info in eastern Ontario. Weather reports of storms, photos, offers of data or funding are always welcome as it takes a fair bit of funds and time to make this site available. I thank you in advance.
The Creative Labs WebCam Live! has failed me again and Creative will not even give advice out of warranty so until I can replace with another brand, I will try to put new images here from time to time. Below is the Jet Stream map created by Environment Canada. I figured that since no one was reading below a certain line on this page I might as well spice it up some.

For those who are interested, and want to find out more information about general space news & weather, you can also check out the Science @ NASA website or see the bottom of this page for space news/weather headlines. The "Convective Weather Statement" issued by Environment Canada is available from May 1st to September 30th, 2005. You should check this forecast each day as well to give you a "big picture" view of the weather and the storm potential for your region. Here is where you can find out if severe weather is expected where you are or elsewhere in Ontario. Each day, twice a day, between May 1st and September 30th, I include Environment Canada's Convective Weather Forecast on the Weather Notes page. This is a discussion of the potential in the atmosphere for thunderstorm activity throughout Ontario. It does not mean we will actually get the storms but that the ingredients are all there for them to develop. It's worth a read each day!
