I have been an avid weather watcher for most of my life. My mother always said that I should have become a meteorologist but she forgot to mention that that takes a bit of money to do. So, for the better part of my life I contented myself with looking at weather instead of trying to figure it out.
Then after the Ice Storm of 1998 here in eastern Ontario I began to hone my interest and shortly thereafter nature and luck intervened in the guise of a small tornado going through my backyard. I became involved with Environment Canada's Severe Weather Watchers program in 2000 and never looked back. I then became aware of a growing number of people, mainly in south western Ontario, who were involved in a group that had a strong email list. After joining that group I became aware of and joined another organization run by Environment Canada called CANWARN. I now run this website and am an avid storm chaser, weather watcher and weather photographer as well as a self-trained storm damage survey technician (not that there is a school for that) and determine storm intensity, direction and type based on on-site damage observations and measurements. 2002 was a busy year for major storms here in eastern Ontario including a pair of tornadoes in Fallowfield Village, Nepean and a likely microburst in Cloyne to name a couple. This site will remain, in effect, under construction until I am satisfied that I have everything I want done is completed and being a guy, that could be forever!? Enjoy the site and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you would like me to come out to your group or school for a talk about the weather. Currently I am limiting myself to the eastern Ontario region of Lanark County and surrounding counties for now due to the cost since I only accept donations but do not expect them for this service.
